Vice president Meng Dongping of CCCMHPIE led a delegation of Chinese pharmaceutical and health enterprises to visit Japan from April 19 to 26, as CPhI Japan was held in Tokyo.

 

The opening ceremony of CPhI Japan was held in the International Exhibition Center in Tokyo on 20th April. Meng Dongping, on behalf of CCCMHPIE, attended the ceremony. High officials of the big pharmaceutical industry associations of Japan and other regions, as well as UBM Japan and the Chemical Daily attended the ceremony.

 

After the ceremony, Meng held talks with Mr. Jime Essink, president and executive of UBM Asia, and Christopher Eve, senior vice president of UBM Asia, on discussion of topics such as the combination of exhibition and industry exchange.

 

UBM Asia spoke highly of the role played by CCCMHPIE in internationalizing Chinese medicine industry, and expressed hope of further cooperation.

 

Meng also talked with Kakuda Hideo, president of Japanese Pharmaceutical Trade Council, to exchange views on enhancing Sino-Japan medicine cooperation and conducting supporting activities of CPhI.

Bilateral talks on Sino-Japan pharmaceutical industry markets and strategies on 20th Apri was held in Tokyo, jointly organized by CCCMHPIE and Pharmaceutical Group of the Japanese Union.

 

Chinese Embassy in Japan ambassador of the economic affairs section Liu Yajun delivered a speech. Liu expressed that medicine is a medium of culture, the exchanges within the medical industry can help promote a solid Sino-Japan relationship, and that the Chinese Embassy in Japan will strongly support sino-Japan exchange activities.

 

Vice President Meng Dongping made the keynote speech during the meeting. Meng introduced the developments and achievements of Chinese medicine and health industry, and the current status of Sino-Japan medicine trade cooperation.

 

Meng said that both sides have the strong will to collaborate and the markets can be complementary, but there are problems such as information asymmetry and system coordination. Meng said that CCCMHPIE can be the bridge of pharmaceutical communication between China and Japan, and expressed hope of the two sides to join hands and develop together.

 

Over ten leading Japanese pharmaceutical enterprises took part in the dialogue, like Astellas Pharma, Eisai, Otsuka, Kobayashi, Takata, and other companies, to exchange views with delegates of Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises. The dialogues involved issues such as market approval and registration, as well as cooperation opportunities.
