On the afternoon of June 19, the 2017 Award for Top 100 Internationalized Pharmaceutical Companies was officially released at the 8th “China and World” CEO Summit, organized by UBM EMEA and China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) and co-organized by Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co.,Ltd (UBM Sinoexpo).
Meng Dongping, Vice President of CCCMHPIE, said that the international level of an industry depends on the performance of the active individual companies. Preparations are exported to the regulated market on a large scale. The amount of overseas M&A hits a record high. The pursuit of high-end international certification speeds up. The momentum of going global among Chinese pharmaceutical companies remains strong and more achievements continue to be made with closer relations with the world pharmaceutical market. The power of examples cannot be underestimated. The aim of the award list is to give a strong impetus to the pharmaceutical companies that have made great achievements when going global. We aim to raise the international recognition and influence of the leading companies and set a good example in the industry for internationalization.
The selection activity started at 2016. The result of last year received well recognition among pharmaceutical companies and exerted wide-range social influence. The selection in 2017 set up 3 awards: Quality Suppliers and Partners in the World Market (Top 60), World Leading Companies for Preparations (Top 20) and the Most Potential Companies (Top 20).
The selection activity was divided into four stages. The first stage was the survey and information collection stage. Information about the selection was available on the CCCMHPIE official website and WeChat platform as well as CPhI WeChat. Companies were allowed for self-recommendation too. 130 companies were selected for the three awards. The second stage was public voting on the WeChat platform. Over 660,000 votes were received from CCCMHPIE official WeChat. The third stage was voting from over ten experts in the industry, who came from authoritative institutions such as China Medical Pharmaceutical Material Association (CMPMA), China Pharmaceutical Industry Association (CPIA) and China Pharmaceutical University. The final stage was the vote from foreign visitors based on CPhI global resources. After rounds of selection, 100 companies that perform well in internationalization were selected out for the three awards.
