Global Health Industry Cooperation Conference & Conference on China-CEEC Partnership in Healthcare Innovation Held

In the afternoon of June 9th, the Global Health Industry Cooperation Conference & Conference on China-CEEC Partnership in Healthcare Innovation was held during the 2nd China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair. The Conference, theme of which is “Health Driving to Connect the World”, witnessed dialogues surrounding the healthcare cooperation of China and Central and Eastern European Countries, and the world. Conference implemented the guiding principles of President Xi’s important speeches at the China-CEEC Summit in February 2021 by officially launching the China-CEEC Cooperation for Public Health Industry.

 
Ma Guangming, Vice Chairman of Zhejiang Province CPPCC; Xu Jinghe, Deputy Commissioner of National Medical Products Administration of the People’s Republic of China; Zhai Qian, Director General of Department of European Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China; H.E. Mr. Vladimír Tomšík, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Czech Republic; H.E. Mr. Dušan Bella, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Slovak Republic; and Hon. Susanne Kurz, Former President of the Federal Council of Austria all gave speech on the Opening Ceremony. Zhang Qianjiang, Deputy Director-General of Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province moderated the ceremony.
 
Xu Jinghe, deputy director of the State Food and Drug Administration, addressed the conference via video. He said that in recent years, China-CEEC cooperation in the pharmaceutical and health industry has been booming, and the cooperation in the field of drug regulation has also been deepening. The National Medical Products Administration is looking forward to working with the Hungarian government to hold the Second China-CEEC Drug Regulatory Summit in 2022, and to continue to convey to its CEE counterparts the determination and mission of China's drug regulatory authorities to promote scientific, law-based, international and modernized drug regulatory work. He introduced the National Medical Products Administration’s progress of reforming the evaluation and approval system, including to improve drug regulatory standards system, continue to promote the further development of the evaluation reform of examination and approval for medicines and medical devices, promote the modernization of regulation system and regulation ability, proactively participate in the global medicine and medical device multilateral governance mechanism’s efforts and achievements.
 
Zhai Qian, Director General of Department of European Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China said that, since the establishment of the China-CEECs cooperation mechanism in 2012, China and CEE countries have achieved positive results in medical and health cooperation. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, China and CEE countries have looked after and helped each other in times of difficulty, witnessed the continuing advance of international cooperation on medical supplies and pandemic prevention and control and building of a bridge of friendship and life. Bilateral pharmaceutical trade has surged in spite of a down market and investment cooperation has continued to expand.
 
On February 9, 2021, President Xi Jinping proposed at the China-CEEC Summit that China will promote the establishment of a public health industry cooperation between China and CEE countries. Since its announcement, the Initiative to establish the Cooperation has received positive response from the medical and health industry in China and CEE countries. Medical and health industry organizations, leading enterprises, and academic institutions in China and 15 CEE countries have applied to join the Cooperation.
 
On the Conference, moderated by Wang Maochun, Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce for the Import & Export of Medicines and Health Products, the launching ceremony of China-CEEC Cooperation for Public Health Industry was held under the joint witness of Chinese representatives and diplomats of CEE countries in China. Vice President Wang announced that the China-CEEC Cooperation for Public Health Industry will serve as a platform for pragmatic cooperation between China and CEE countries in the pharmaceutical, medical, health and public health industries, and will shoulder the responsibility of promoting exchanges and cooperation in pharmaceutical products, innovative technologies, regulatory standards, trade and investment and pandemic prevention and control projects, and the vital task of jointly promoting cross-regional cooperation in the high-quality development of the public health industry.
 
Over 600 representatives from Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, National Medical Products Administration of the People’s Republic of China, General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and relevant departments, government officials from international healthcare departments, leaders of international organizations, government officials and diplomats from Central and Eastern European Countries, leaders of health industry organizations from Central and Eastern European Countries, industrial leaders, science and technology experts, Chinese and foreign medical and healthcare enterprises participated in the Conference.
