Mr. Daniel Storer, Director of Business Development of Manchester’s inward investment agency (MIDAS) and Mr. Keith Miller, Business Development Manager of MIDAS, together with Ms. Gu Yueqi, senior official of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) visited CCCMHPIE on 31th, July, and held talk with Vice President Xu Ming. During the talk, Mr. Daniel first gave a detailed introduction about Manchester and believed that the location advantage and advanced pharmaceutical research and development strength make Manchester an ideal place to invest for Chinese enterprises.
Vice president Xu said that a number of Chinese enterprises hope to improve their overall level of research and development and manufacturing capability through acquisitions of British small and medium-sized enterprises with great R&D strength.. He also hoped that a list of such British enterprises could be offered by the British side so that Chinese enterprises can be better informed of the enterprises in life science and healthcare industry in Manchester.
Mr. Keith Miller expressed willingness of further cooperation with CCCMHPIE in information exchange. He pointed out that Manchester, experienced in Industry-Academy-Research cooperation and equipped with numerous funds for R&D incentives, becomes the third biggest industrial cluster in British life science and healthcare field and continuously promotes the overall R&D strength in this region. . While eager to see foreign investment flow into Manchester, they also wish to strengthen reciprocal cooperation for mutual benefit between Chinese and Manchester enterprises.
Both sides agreed that Chinese and British pharmaceutical industries are highly complementary in healthcare industry. MIDAS and CCCMHPIE should give full play to their comparative advantages, encourage and assist exchanges between enterprises from both sides, and accelerate the changing of laboratory results into commercial products.
